RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

As Vice President of Resource Development, Peggy coaches executive staff and volunteers on increasing the effectiveness of their fundraising efforts.  Peggy’s prescriptive approach keeps the sessions focused on the organization’s strengths and challenges.  She meets her clients where they are, helping all to grow their fundraising skills. By developing strategic, measurable plans and skill sets, Peggy helps organizations not only meet their goals this year, but increase their capacity for the future.

I was delighted to receive calls from two nonprofit executives during the final days of 2013. Both calls were to pass along some great news regarding year-end endowment commitments. As I rejoiced with them, a Chinese proverb that came to mind: ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

In his role as Executive Vice President, Jon has oversight over product development and training for DBD. He, along with the rest of the leadership team, provides strategic direction and insight for the company. He plays a key role in welcoming new consultants and ensuring that they offer the same quality service and tools as the rest of the DBD team.

An article from the December 30, 2013 issue of the Chronicle of Philanthropy suggests an unconventional approach to New Year’s resolutions for nonprofit leaders. Instead of providing a list of things to add; it recommends things to stop doing. The list was compiled with input from experts in the nonprofit field and provides some thought provoking ideas for consideration.

Michael Bussey comes to Donor By Design following a terrific YMCA career spanning nearly four decades.  The foundation of Mike’s Y work is rooted in many summers as a camp counselor, experiencing first-hand the impact that YMCA camping has on kids.  It was then he knew that he needed to dedicate his career to a mission-driven nonprofit that truly makes a difference.

Michele Goodrich brings a strong and varied background in a wide range of management disciplines including financial development, program innovation, operational oversight, volunteer and staff development, marketing and public relations to her work with the Donor by Design Team. She is passionate about helping nonprofits increase their capacity to fulfill their missions and better serve their communities.

I generally hate to make New Year’s resolutions. No sooner have I made one than I find myself falling short. But I decided I could make one resolution this year… and… I may make it each year for the rest of my life.
