A fascination with people and service has been the essential driving force behind Thom’s work with local YMCAs and not-for-profit organizations. The foundation of Thom’s career in service began with that first summer as a camp counselor back in college. From there, he went on to build a 30-year career within the not-for-profit industry.
Thom has held executive positions with YMCAs in Albuquerque, San Jose, Chicago and Milwaukee, allowing him to develop expertise in leadership, group work, strategic planning, volunteerism, and staff development. He has demonstrated a keen ability to listen to and understand an organization’s needs and then help bridge the gaps between status quo and mission fulfillment.

In recent years he has had the honor of working with many local Y’s in their efforts to address the nation’s health crisis through Activate America. This, in addition to experience in public policy, leadership development, and program development, has enhanced and strengthened his expertise.
A graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Education, Thom resides in Cedarburg, Wisconsin with his wife, Rachelle. He has two grown sons, Jared and Daniel.
