Leighann Sibal serves as a consultant and thought partner to nonprofit organizations, inspiring innovative and strategic approaches to thrive in today’s challenging business environment. Her expertise in planning, board development, capital readiness and collaborations allow her to support to nonprofit organizations in their quest to meaningfully address existing and emerging community needs.
Leighann was a pioneer in developing, launching, and supporting YMCAs in their execution of capital development planning and readiness tools in partnership with GRO Development. This work resulted in fortifying the foundational elements of a successful capital campaign: a strong board, a case rooted in verified community need and impact, vibrant partnerships, and financial viability.

Before coming to DBD Group, Leighann consulted with over 350 unique YMCAs on behalf of the YMCA of the USA national resource office for 23 years in the areas of operations support, strategic planning, board governance, capital readiness planning, collaboration exploration, and strategic restructuring. She provided support to local YMCA boards as they developed a transition plan and led the Executive Transition process to fill CEO vacancies all over the country.
Prior to joining the YMCA of the USA, Leighann spent 10 years in operations with the YMCA of Greater Des Moines and started her career as a student at Ithaca College with the YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County.
Leighann received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Ithaca College and master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Pennsylvania State University. Leighann lives in Des Moines, Iowa riding her bicycle year-round, an avid reader and loves to travel. Among her many passions to give back, Leighann volunteers for Velorosa – a women’s cycling team dedicated to creating community across all levels of cycling, and to advocating for safer and more accessible roads for cyclists and pedestrians in the Des Moines Metro area.
