Kennerly’s work begins with curiosity about people: what matters to them, what they hope to accomplish, and what stands in their way. He brings thoughtful questions, careful listening, and an ability to connect ideas to help leaders make sense of complex challenges. His experience across nonprofit development and business has shaped a practical approach that pairs strategic thinking with empathy and a belief in what people can accomplish together.
Building meaningful connections has been a consistent thread throughout his career. At Doane University, Kennerly helped re-engage alumni of color and worked alongside generous donors to establish the institution’s first scholarship for African-American students with financial need. He also helped develop the founding strategic plan for Heartland Arts KC, bringing his interest in creative expression and community impact to an organization using the performing arts to advocate for social policy.
A coach at heart, Kennerly enjoys helping people recognize their strengths, work through uncertainty, and take the next step toward their goals. His time coaching high school and collegiate wrestling has informed how he approaches leadership: build trust, set clear expectations, and help people see what they are capable of achieving. As host of Where Character Matters on Lincoln’s 93.7 The Ticket, he brings that same curiosity to conversations about the experiences and values that shape how people lead.
Kennerly holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Doane University and lives in Lincoln, Nebraska. He enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and writing songs. Whether through coaching, conversation, or creative expression, he finds purpose in helping people feel understood and connected.
