We are proud beyond measure that Mike Bussey will be inducted into the National YMCA Hall of Fame this summer at the YMCA General Assembly in Atlanta. Mike’s nearly 60-year relationship with YMCA started in Minneapolis YMCA summer camps and went on to include two years as a YMCA World Service Worker in Nazareth, Israel, 17 years with the YMCA of Greater St. Paul where he served as the Director of YMCA Camp St. Croix and later as Vice President of Financial Development, and nine years as the Director General of the Jerusalem International YMCA. During Mike’s tenure with Jerusalem International YMCA, the YMCA was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for its historic work in building peaceful coexistence in the Middle East. Mike also served for 8 years as a financial development consultant at YMCA of the USA. Since retiring from the Y in 2009, Mike joined DBD Group as a senior consultant where he helped countless nonprofits further their mission. Mike also co-founded, along with Norris Lineweaver, the Friends of the Jerusalem International YMCA, and onPrinciple, a YMCA leadership development program whose mission is to equip YMCA leaders to skillfully put Christian principles into practice in a manner that embraces inclusion and strengthens healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
